Cabernet Franc at its most vibrant

In Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil, La Jarnoterie has cultivated a sincere expression of Cabernet Franc for five generations: fruit, freshness, finesse and true Loire character.

Alone in the plant kingdom, the vine makes us understand what the true flavour of the earth really is.

01The place

A family estate,
a living terroir

Founded in 1893, this 26-hectare estate is built on a remarkable trilogy: an exceptional south-facing microclimate, siliceous-clay soilsSoils combining silica (sands, gravels) and clay: they warm up quickly and drain well while retaining the water the vine needs — an asset for Cabernet Franc ripeness. and Cabernet Franc as the only grape variety.

For five generations, the demand for precise work has had one single goal: to reveal the best of the terroir. Our cuvées age in a tuffeau limestoneA soft, pale limestone from the Loire Valley, carved out over centuries. Cool and naturally humid, it offers ideal ageing conditions for wine. cellar, where Didier sets the tempo and adds nuance, like a conductor shaping the work in progress.

What we do is simply not betray what the vine has chosen to give.

The Rezé family

Didier & Carine, guardians of a grape variety

Born into a family of winegrowers, Carine grew up to the rhythm of the vines, the seasons and the harvests. From a very young age, she was surrounded by her parents, who passed on to her a love of the land, of work well done and of wine shared with others. Passionate about music as much as wine, she has always sought to bring her passions to life with sensitivity, generosity and emotion.

Didier was not born into winegrowing. His meeting with Carine led him into this demanding and fascinating world. Alongside his wife, he gradually learned the craft, season after season, harvest after harvest, until he became one of the faces of La Jarnoterie.

Together, Didier and Carine have chosen to defend a sincere vision of wine: cultivating a single grape variety, Cabernet Franc, and revealing its full expression without ever betraying it. In Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil, they carry on the family story with rigour, humility and respect for living things.

Guided by attentive winegrowing — HVE3 certification and one organically farmed cuvée — they are convinced that great wine is born first from land that is listened to.

At La Jarnoterie, we do not simply sell bottles: we share the story of a family, a place and an emblematic Loire grape variety.

Visits take place on Fridays from April to August at 10:15 a.m., by reservation. You can book online from the Visits page or by phone on +33 2 47 97 75 49. The visit lasts about 1.5 hours and ends with a guided tasting of the estate’s cuvées.

La Jarnoterie grows only Cabernet Franc, the emblematic grape variety of the Loire Valley, across 26 hectares in the Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil AOC. All our cuvées — red and rosé — are made from it.

Tuffeau is a soft, pale limestone typical of the Loire Valley. Our cellars were carved into it: their natural coolness and humidity provide ideal conditions for ageing and storing wines.

Yes. We ship our cuvées in France and across Europe, generally within 48 to 72 hours, in packaging designed for transporting bottles. Free pickup at the estate is also available by appointment.

It depends on the cuvée. Élégante and the Préludise rosé are best enjoyed young and fruit-driven. Concerto benefits from a few years of ageing, while Improvisation Signature has ageing potential of 8 to 10 years.

The estate is certified High Environmental Value level 3 (HVE3), the most demanding level. Our Angèle cuvée is also produced from organic farming. We work with respect for the terroir and living things.
